Port Perry Dance Academy offers several Programs to meet the needs of all dancers. These programs include Recreational, Examination, Competitive and Specialty Intensive Programs throughout the year.
Recreational Program: This program is designed for the dancer who is looking to explore dance in a safe, welcoming environment. Classes are taught by qualified instructors and encompass Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Hip Hop and Lyrical styles. The program includes both our popular $5.00 Super Classes that are designed as an introduction for the younger/inexperienced dancer as well as our standard program that caters to students looking for a more in-depth recreational dance experience.
Examination Programs: Many of our students look for the opportunity to learn various styles of Dance (Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Acrobatics) and to challenge themselves through an examination process. These Exams are administered by the world renowned Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) and the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA). Exams are offered annually.
Competitive Dance: Many students enjoy the thrill that comes with dancing competitively. We offer a complete Competitive Program in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Lyrical and Contemporary Dance genres.
Intensive Programs: There are two Intensive Programs available at the Port Perry Dance Academy. The Ballet Intensive that is held during the last week of July and the Summer Intensive held in the second-to-last week of August. These programs are geared for the dancer who wishes to keep in shape over the summer while learning “Open” work in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary styles. Tap programs are offered by request. These programs have proven to be popular with dancers who dance elsewhere and who want to keep in shape over the summer break.
Customized Training Programs: Some dancers would like to work on specific skills: Turn that single pirouette into a double, the double into a triple, the triple into a quad! Other dancers may need a bit of extra help with syllabus work (ADAPT, RAD, Cecchetti, Vaganova etc.). The Customized Training Programs address this need by pairing individual dancers with a senior instructor and a skills trainer to help accomplish those goals. Our programs utilize specialized equipment, years of experience and our state-of-the-art facilities to produce the desired results. Each program is customized for the individual dancer. The first session is typically 60 minutes in length with subsequent sessions typically lasting 30 minutes. We develop a program for each dancer that suits their specific needs and availability and is available to all dancers.
